SUPERVISOR’S MESSAGE….
My Fellow Residents,
I wanted to share some important updates with you for the week:
- Listening campaign –
Northville Township is committed to providing exceptional and professional
police services to our diverse community. On Tuesday, Chief Tennies
and I partnered with the Conference of Western Wayne to kick off the listening
tour with the Western Wayne County NAACP at the Westland City Hall.
Communities throughout western Wayne County will be hosting this event
throughout the summer. Listening to our residents is critical to
ensuring exceptional public safety services.
- The Township is vigorously
opposing any request by Advanced Disposal to dump treated leachate into
Johnson Creek. Johnson Creek is the last cold water trout stream in Wayne
County and we are committed to protecting it.
- Our work with Wayne County
has paid off. The Sheldon Road re-surfacing project has been
completed and the roadway is open for travel. Lane striping is in
progress.
- The Township will
officially open the biking/hiking trails on the Eastern end of our 7 Mile
Property to the public on Saturday, June 20, 2020. The Township is also
pleased to announce that a contest to name the entire park is open to
residents aged 10 to 110+ years. It is time the property had an official
name following its purchase in 2009, and residents are encouraged to
participate. Please EMAIL your suggestions to clerk@twp.northville.mi.us, or
mail to Northville Township Clerk, 44405 Six Mile Road, Northville, MI
48168. Submissions begin today and run through August 1st.
Please include your name and address on your email entry. The winning
entry will be announced August 10th.
- The Northville Township
Fire Department partnered with Wayne County Health Department to
administer Covid-19 tests at long term care facilities within the
Township.
- The Township Hall is now
open. Please remember to wear your masks. You will be greeted
by our touchless temperature kiosk when you enter. We ask that you
not enter Township Hall if you are experiencing a fever, cough or
shortness of breath. The drive-thru is available on the west side of
the building to limit in-person contact. Don’t forget to use our new
24/7 drop box located in the drive-thru lane for voter applications,
ballots, payments or other documents.
We are making progress thanks to all of you!
Bob Nix, Supervisor
