Township Clerk Announces Retirement
Posted on 01/17/2019
Township ClerkNORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich., January 17, 2019 – At the January Board of Trustees meeting tonight, Sue Hillebrand, the Northville Township Clerk, announced her retirement after 26 years with the Township. She is resigning from her position as Clerk so she can fully recover from major surgery and to prepare for twin granddaughters due this July. They join a 4-year-old sister!

Sue Hillebrand was elected Township Clerk on November 3, 1992 and has served this community in numerous ways during her more than 30-year residency, including on the Board of Trustees, Beautification Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission.

Sue has fulfilled the duties of Township Clerk for over 26 years conducting 50 successful elections, making her the longest elected Clerk in Northville Township. Sue’s dedication and motivation in the Clerking profession has been monumental. She has served on both the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks’ Board and the Association of Wayne County Clerks’ Board. She was nominated and elected the MAMC Township Clerk of the Year in 2008 for her involvement and interest in improving her professional field.

Sue earned the Master Municipal Clerk certification from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks in 2009. This is a title held by only 1353 clerks in the United States because of its extensive and rigorous program and she is only one of 61 Michigan Clerks to have achieved this status from the prestigious International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

Sue’s strong work ethic, honesty, and unwavering integrity have earned her the respect of her peers and colleagues. Her knowledge, passion, and vision for the future have made her a phenomenal mentor and boss. The Board of Trustees would like to honor and thank Sue Hillebrand for over 26 years of service and dedication to Northville Township; and extend congratulations and sincere best wishes to Sue and her family on her retirement.

The Township will be hosting a public retirement reception on Monday, January 28th from 1-4pm at Township Hall. Please stop by to wish her well on her next chapter and to thank her for her service to Northville Township.
