Position Announcement

The Charter Township of Northville is seeking applicants for the following position

TITLE: Public Safety Manager
TIME FRAME: Full-time

REPORTS TO: Director of Public Safety

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:   Under the direction of the Director of Public Safety, to perform the more difficult and responsible technical and analytical work in the research and evaluation of the fiscal, organizational, operational, and procedural problems and practices of the Northville Township Public Safety Department. Research and make recommendations regarding special Public Safety related problems requiring decisions at the administrative level. Responsible for the overall management of the Public Safety Administration office.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Graduation from a college or university with an undergraduate or associates degree in Accounting, Finance, Law Enforcement, Economics, Business Administration or a related curriculum and five years current related work experience or municipal accounting experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 
-Required combination of training and experience in office activities which have included research methodology, statistical analysis, computer appliances, and procedural and fiscal responsibilities; 
-Must possess strong accounting, organizational, leadership and communication skills; and
-Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word) and accounting/finance software (BS&A preferred).


SKILLS: 
-Significant knowledge of the budget process and governmental accounting rules on reporting of revenue and expenditures;
-Considerable knowledge of work methods, procedures and financial aspects of business activities, such as, budgeting, personnel, purchasing, recordkeeping, organizational principles and management techniques and presentations;
-Ability to work in and direct a team centered process involving multiple disciplines;
-Ability to prepare and objectively analyze comprehensive reports; 
-Ability to carry out assigned projects to completion; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship internally and externally;
-Basic knowledge of labor relations practices including collective bargaining agreements;
-Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing;
-Values diversity in the work place and in the community;
-Physically and mentally capable of performing all the duties of the classification; and
-Basic knowledge of labor relations practices including collective bargaining agreements.

COMPENSATION: $65,000 annual w/benefits
